We’re the Masons
Cecelia, Taylor, Keenan, Josephine and Sasha
Our love for dogs began long before we had even heard of the Samoyed breed. Our first canine companions were Milli (German Short-Haired Pointer) and Kai (Chocolate Lab). For years, the four of us played, loved and learned from eachother. Milli and Kai brought so much light and laughter to our family.
From 2016-2018, Taylor worked with a local boarding kennel, where she met and learned from many different breeds of dogs and their families. She found that filling her days with walks, fetch and outdoor play is the ultimate experience for a persons soul.
Finally in 2019, we welcomed Sasha into our home. She instantly found her place, learning the rules from Milli and being Kai’s favourite buddy to chase and wrestle. Unlike our previous 2 experiences, Sasha was 9 months old when she joined our family. She was born in the Ukraine and lived in 2 different breeding kennels before she came home. To say she was anxious was an understatement and it took a lot of patience and hard work on all of our parts to erase poor behaviour and give her confidence in her forever home.
We have now said goodbye to MIlli (2009-2020) and Kai (2013-2022) and we often reflect on our memories with them! We believe that our dogs are members of our family and we want to provide our community with the fulfilling experience and memories a great canine companion can provide.
Over centuries, Samoyeds have transitioned from working dogs to show dogs, but we believe that they are far more than that. Samoyeds are a compassionate and protective breed, eager to please and always willing to play! They are beautiful, gentle and patient, making them a desirable pet for most families. And so, in 2019, Keenan launched Vasilisa’s to create incredible canine companions that add joy and love to your family.
Sasha has had 2 litters and is now retired. She was a great Mum and delivered some truly wonderful pups. One puppy in particular caught our eye and we decided to carry on breeding with Skadi, born in 2022. She has been a playful and energetic pup and we are excited to breed her for the first time in winter of 2025.
Our Vasilisa dogs are first and foremost our pets and we love them dearly. Our intention is to expand Vasilisa’s but always keep our breeding dams (and their pups) underfoot, never breeding more than one dam at a time. The addition of a boarding kennel will allow us to experience many different breeds and fill our hearts and schedules with as much canine time as we can handle! We also intend to participate in some winter sports with our Samoyeds, such as skijoring!
